Darren attended the University of Essex during the years 1999 until 2002 where he read law. At the University of Essex, Darren served on the executive committee of the law society for three years and was also fortunate enough to have been elected to the positions of law convenor ('00/'01), chairman of the Student's Union Council ('01/'02) as well as being a student tutor in his final year. 

 

In the academic year 2002/2003, Darren read for the Bar at the Inns of Court School of Law, City University, London, and was called to the Bar by Lincoln's Inn in July 2003. His primary areas of law include professional neglience, civil ligitation, personal injury, employment law and costs, however, Darren has a keen interest in human rights and discrimination matters (race, gender, disability, age, sexual orientation and religion) as well as diversity and equality issues generally, but especially within the legal profession.

 

Darren founded and runs Legal Tutoring Services, a successful business that is primarily geared towards undergraduate law students that assists them with expert tuition, guidance and advice in all academic, vocational and professional matters. Additionally, Darren runs the very popular blog at www.interalialegal.com.

 
Through Darren's other business. Vicissitude Life Coaching and Mentoring Services he principally (but not exclusively) offers professional coaching, mentoring and advice to students who, among other things, request support in setting effective short, medium and long term goals; those that require assistance in developing effective communication skills and those that need cooperation in effectively managing their time.

 

Outside of Darren's professional life he is the chairman of the Dominica Overseas Nationals Association (D.O.N.A.) and one of the Trustees of the Dominica Overseas Nationals Association's Aid Dominica Development Trust, a registered U.K. charity organisation in London; enjoys attending the cinema and theatre; going to the gym; swimming; quadrille dancing; listening to music; cooking West Indian food; following the stock market; making wise investments and travel writing.
